Two Weeks in Paradise: Mykonos and Positano – A Dream Vacation

When it comes to curating the perfect vacation, few destinations pair as effortlessly as Mykonos and Positano. These two gems—one Greek and one Italian—offer a yin-yang of vibrancy and serenity. Mykonos dazzles with its beaches, lifestyle, and nightlife, while Positano charms with its natural beauty, breathtaking views, and slower pace.

Having done this journey myself (and more than once!), I can say that nothing compares to spending a week soaking in the Mykonian energy followed by a week of rejuvenation on the Amalfi Coast. Let me share with you not just the magic of these places, but also some personal favorites that have made my travels unforgettable.

Week 1: Mykonos – Glamour, Beaches, and Buzz

The energy of Mykonos is utterly captivating. From the moment you step onto the island, you’re embraced by its dazzling whitewashed architecture, the sparkling Aegean waters, and an irresistible vibe that encourages you to live your best life.

Where to Stay: Excitement for the Future

Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa has been my trusted retreat for years, offering stunning views and a serene ambiance that makes it feel like a home away from home. However, my excitement is growing for the Four Seasons opening in Mykonos in 2025. As my favorite hotel brand in the world, I know it will deliver unparalleled luxury and seamlessly blend its signature elegance with the charm of the island. I cannot wait to experience this highly anticipated addition to Mykonos.

Unmissable Restaurants in Mykonos

The dining scene in Mykonos is a highlight, especially at authentic local spots. Two favorites, located side by side in Mykonos Town in the area known to locals as Gialos, are:

Kazarma: A gem for travelers and locals alike, offering simple yet delicious dishes in a picturesque harbor-side setting.

Bakoya: Another beloved spot, known for its fresh, flavorful food and inviting atmosphere.

These restaurants capture the essence of Mykonos—genuine, vibrant, and full of heart.

Week 2: Positano – Tranquility, Beauty, and Indulgence

After the lively buzz of Mykonos, Positano feels like a soothing embrace. It’s hard not to fall in love with its pastel-colored houses clinging to cliffs, the scent of lemons in the air, and the gentle lapping of waves along the shore.

Where to Stay: Hotel Le Agavi

While Positano is home to some of the world’s most famous hotels, Hotel Le Agavi has become my personal favorite. I’ve stayed at both Le Sirenuse and Il San Pietro on past trips, and while they are undeniably luxurious, Le Agavi offers something unique. Its spacious terraces, found in 90% of its rooms, allow you to truly immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. For me, this level of privacy and connection to the surroundings is unbeatable.

Le Sirenuse is ideal if you want to be right in the center of the action, but it can feel a bit too bustling at times. Il San Pietro has its charm, but the smaller balconies can’t compete with the expansive terraces of Le Agavi.

Dining in Positano: A Mix of Experiences

Positano is full of restaurants claiming to offer “the best,” but for me, a few truly stand out:

Remmese: For a seaside dining experience, nothing compares to Remmese. Open for both lunch and dinner, it’s a hidden treasure that combines a spectacular location with exceptional food. The views alone would be enough to keep me coming back, but the cuisine takes it to the next level.

La Serra and Adamo ed Eva: If you’re looking for a gourmet experience with panoramic views, these two are top-notch. Both offer elevated dining that pairs perfectly with Positano’s natural beauty. The flavors, presentation, and ambiance create a dining experience that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.

As for restaurants in Positano’s center, I’ve had mixed experiences. There have been wonderful moments, but there have also been occasional disappointments. Still, those few unfortunate instances haven’t diminished my love for dining in the heart of this picturesque town.

The Perfect Balance: Mykonos and Positano

What makes this two-week escape so extraordinary is the contrast between the two destinations:

Mykonos: It’s where you let loose, soak up the sun, and revel in the energy of a place that celebrates life to the fullest. Whether you’re lounging on a glamorous beach, wandering through charming streets, or dancing the night away, Mykonos feeds your soul with excitement and joy.

Positano: It’s where you exhale, slow down, and savor the beauty around you. The views, the food, the gentle pace of life—everything about Positano invites you to reconnect with yourself and the moment.

Together, they create a vacation that’s as dynamic as it is restorative.

Tips for a Seamless Trip

Travel Logistics: Start in Mykonos, fly to Naples, then transfer to Positano. A private transfer from Naples to Positano is worth the splurge—it’s stress-free and scenic.

Packing: For Mykonos, bring chic outfits for beach days and glamorous evenings. In Positano, opt for comfortable shoes for navigating the steep streets and elegant attire for romantic dinners.

The Bottom Line

Spending one week in Mykonos and one in Positano is not just a vacation—it’s a celebration of life’s most beautiful contrasts. Mykonos dazzles with its energy, beaches, and nightlife, while Positano soothes with its romance, views, and tranquil pace. Each destination offers its own kind of magic, and together, they create an unforgettable journey.

Whether you’re savoring a leisurely lunch at Kazarma in Mykonos or marveling at the sunset from the terrace of Le Agavi, this is a trip that will leave you enchanted. Trust me, these two weeks will be etched in your heart forever.
