Let’s start with Lebanon. Skiing has been a popular pastime in Lebanon since 1913, and today the country boasts six well-maintained ski resorts located less than an hour’s drive from Beirut, on Mount Lebanon.
Imagine skiing down the slopes with a view of the Mediterranean Sea in the distance, and then heading back to your hotel to enjoy some delicious Lebanese cuisine.
Turkey
Next up is Turkey. This country may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of winter sports, but it has at least 13 ski resorts that are easily accessible with Turkish Airlines, which offer excellent onboard service and attractively low flying costs.
Our favorite resorts in Turkey include Uludağ, which is just a 40-minute drive from the city of Bursa, Ergan, located just 12 minutes from the center of Erzincan, and Erciyes, a mere 30 minutes drive from Kayseri Airport.
Turkey’s ski resorts offer a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures, and the slopes are relatively uncrowded compared to other popular winter destinations.
Greece
Moving on to Greece, which is also not typically associated with skiing. But did you know that Greece has ski pistes?
The Parnassos Ski Center, located just two hours from Athens, is one of the best-known ski resorts in Greece, with 19 ski runs and nine lifts. Other ski resorts in Greece include Mount Vermio, Mount Mainalon, and Vasilitsa.
Italy
Of course, Italy is no stranger to winter sports, with the famous Italian Alps attracting skiers and snowboarders from all over the world.

Oukaimeden is located just an hour and a half’s drive from Marrakech and has six ski runs and five lifts.

The Baqueira-Beret ski resort in the Pyrenees is one of the largest and most popular ski resorts in Spain, with 146 ski runs and 34 lifts. Other notable ski resorts in Spain include Navacerrada, Sierra Nevada, and Candanchu.
Croatia
