Is Visiting the Palace of Versailles Worth It? Your Ultimate Guide

As travel enthusiasts, we were initially hesitant about visiting the Palace of Versailles – one of the most popular tourist destinations so close to Paris city center, in France.

We knew it was a magnificent place, but we were worried that it might be too crowded and touristy.

However, we soon realized that our doubts were unfounded, as the Palace of Versailles truly is a mind-blowing experience.

Our recommendation to anyone considering a visit is to avoid being just another tourist. Instead, take the time to really explore the palace and all its wonders.

If you have a love for architecture, art, and history, make sure you dedicate at least a couple of days to fully appreciate the beauty of this place.

We highly recommend taking a private guided tour to get the most out of your visit.

Not only will you be able to ask any questions that come to mind, but you’ll also receive answers from knowledgeable guides.

They can provide unique insights into the palace’s history and significance.

One important tip we learned is to start your tour as early in the day as possible.

Undoubtedly there is so much to see and do at the Palace of Versailles.

Even with a couple of days dedicated to exploring, you’ll still only be able to scratch the surface of what this amazing place has to offer.

For an even more unforgettable experience, we suggest staying for a night or two in the town of Versailles itself.

This will give you ample time to explore the palace and its surrounding gardens, without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

It’s important to note that photography is limited within the palace, with flash photography strictly prohibited.

In some areas, photography is not allowed at all. As a sign of respect, we decided not to carry any cameras.

Instead, we have made use of the incredible images available on Unsplash, and we’re grateful to all the talented photographers who have contributed to this platform.

However, don’t forget to bring your camera when exploring the gardens of Versailles.

With today’s technology, you can capture incredible photos that will help you remember this once-in-a-lifetime experience for years to come.

Looking back on our first visit to Chateau de Versailles in the 80s, we’re amazed at how far technology has come.

But even with all the advancements in photography, there’s still nothing quite like experiencing the Palace of Versailles in person.

So if you’re considering a visit, don’t hesitate – you won’t regret it!
