And just because of this question below we decided to dedicate some time to write this article “Santorini with My Family and Younger Children! Where Should I Stay?”
I travel with my family and I cannot find a hotel that accepts families… Why my children aren’t welcome in the Caldera Hotels? This is where I want to stay…
Family vacations are always so special and even if Santorini is not top on our list of places that we would recommend to our family, friends and clients for their family escape; this island has everything for everyone.
Accommodation wise if in your party there are children under the age of 16 years old, you are about to discover with lots of disappointment in many occasions that most hotels overlooking the caldera, those that enjoy the postcards’ views, are not welcoming younger kids. And for most travellers visiting Santorini mainly for its breathtaking views, this is really not what they would like to deal with… So let us share some facts with you.
Most of Santorinian Hoteliers spread around the caldera, being parents themselves, have wisely placed a general rule that their properties will not accept kids younger than 16 yrs old. A decision made for your family’s safety and not for any other reason. Children are always fearless and super active and no matter how we all enjoy that, the architecture and land formation in this particular area can hide one too many dangers that you will easily understand as soon as you start your exploration of the island when you visit.
So in order to answer the “Where Should We Stay” question… then we would strongly recommend the areas of Kamari and Monolithos. Both located in close proximity to Fira, the capital city of the island, but at the same time enjoying the beauty of a lovely beach with black sand and activities that children of all ages will love and enjoy the most.
